We partner directly with Orange County homeless programs to place county-vetted individuals and families in your home. We handle all the coordination, and even help build an ADU on your property at no cost to you. You earn income. They gain stability. Everyone wins.

If you own a home in Orange County but don't currently have a spare room or separate unit, Root & Rise OC may be able to help you build an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) at absolutely no cost to you. We handle the planning, permitting, and construction coordination through our program partners. In return, you agree to participate in the housing placement program. You gain a permanent income-generating asset. Your tenants gain a safe, stable home.

Placements are structured as shared living quarters — two county-vetted residents per room. Residents are referred through our Orange County homeless program partnership, individually screened, background-checked, and approved before placement. You review and approve every match before anyone moves in. You are always in control.

How the Homeowner Program Works

Property Assessment
A Root & Rise coordinator will contact you within 48 hours to walk through your home, discuss ADU eligibility if applicable, explain the program in full, and answer every question you have.
Review Your County-Referred Match
We present you with profiles of county-referred, vetted residents. You review each one, ask questions, and approve before anyone moves in. You always have final say.
Placement & Ongoing Support
Once you approve, we handle the paperwork, move-in coordination, and ongoing case management. Your coordinator stays available throughout the entire placement.
