Our story
Built for Orange County. Driven by Purpose.
ALessMess Foundation was created to tackle one of Orange County's most urgent challenges — homelessness — by building a bridge between people who need stable housing and homeowners who have space to share.
Why We Exist
Orange County has one of the highest costs of living in the nation, and thousands of residents face housing instability every year. Many are one crisis away from losing everything — a job loss, a medical bill, a family breakdown.
ALessMess Foundation launched the Root & Rise OC program to change that equation. By partnering directly with Orange County's homeless services network, we connect vetted individuals and families with homeowners who have extra space — creating stable, supported living arrangements that benefit everyone.
We don't just place people in homes. We wrap every placement in a structured 30-day onboarding program, ongoing case support, and county-backed accountability — so homeowners feel protected and residents have a real foundation to rebuild from. Mission Statement AlessMess Foundation’s mission is to prevent and address homelessness by helping individuals and families remain safely housed, connecting people to available housing opportunities, and empowering individuals to take control of their lives and rise toward stability and self-sufficiency. Through our Root to Rise initiative, we partner with homeowners, landlords, community organizations, and county and government agencies to create practical housing solutions. We help homeowners who are at risk of losing their homes explore opportunities to generate income from unused space, while also connecting eligible individuals and families in need with available housing. Our model creates a community partnership where everyone can benefit: homeowners can earn additional income by responsibly utilizing unused space—even when they are not experiencing financial hardship—while individuals and families facing housing instability gain access to housing and supportive resources. We believe homelessness prevention begins before someone loses their home. By identifying housing challenges early, connecting people with resources, utilizing existing housing capacity, and coordinating with community and government partners, we work to reduce housing instability and help people remain rooted in their communities. Our 30-Day Empowerment Program provides participants with a structured pathway to address immediate barriers, connect with appropriate resources, establish personal goals, and take meaningful steps toward stability, independence, and control of their future. Beyond housing, AlessMess Foundation supports children, youth, families, and communities through programs that promote education, healthy development, youth sports, cheerleading, dance, self-defense, sensory support, school assistance, and other community-based services. Our purpose is simple: help people stay rooted, create pathways to stability, and empower them to rise.
Our County Partnership
Root & Rise OC operates as an official referral partner of Orange County's homeless services network. County case managers refer clients directly to our program, and every placement is coordinated with county oversight to ensure safety, accountability, and long-term success.
This partnership means homeowners aren't taking a leap of faith alone — they're backed by the full weight of county vetting, our program protocols, and a dedicated support team that stays engaged throughout every placement.
